History

The Beartown Story

The idea of a family ski area was born in 1957 at the suggestion of the
Council of Community Services. Through the combined efforts of many
local supporters, land was purchased and work began. The main slope was
cleared and a rope tow was installed for the ’58 season. Since then,
expansion and improvments have continued at a steady pace providing the
entire area with an excellent and popular family recreational facility.
Beartown, a not for profit membership corporation, is owned and
operated by the members through the board of directors.
